The Project aims to analysing the scripts sampled from schools' use of the Assessment Tools in the 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 school year and identify good practices of schools that facilitate NCS students' effective learning of the Chinese language. Specifically, the Project is required to (a) present the NCS students' standards in Chinese Language as pegged against the "Learning Framework" with specific descriptors illustrated by annotated examples and/or quantifiers as appropriate and rough proportion of NCS students meeting the standards, and identify the gap, if any, as compared to the basic competencies of a typical Chinese-speaking student in terms of what he/she could do in the domains of writing and reading Chinese at each of Key Stage; (b) report the initial findings on standards of NCS students in reading and writing as required based on the analyses of about 60% of the sample scripts; (c) identify and conduct further study / analysis on at least 3 primary and 3 secondary schools in which more NCS students attain higher level of Chinese proficiency as reflected in the sample scripts with a view to gauging good practices that facilitate NCS students' effective learning of the Chinese language.
The first three round of this analyses service project from 2014 to 2016 was led by Prof. SK Tse. The analyses service since 2017 was led by Dr. SY Hui until now.
