Conference
Han-characters shared in a variety of forms among a number of Asian languages constitute a unique linguistic phenomenon. Hanja is taught in Korea, kanji in Japan, Chinese in Mainland China and Singapore learn simplified hanzi while Chinese in Taiwan and Hong Kong learn their traditional Chinese characters. This Conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers, and practitioners from different Asian countries to foster international knowledge exchange and research collaboration on Han-characters education and research. Building upon accomplishments and successes of the thirteen conferences, the upcoming conference will be held in the University of Hong Kong, on 16 - 19 January 2025.
With the support from co-hosting institutions, starting from the 14th conference, the name of this Conference will be slightly revised to “「漢字與漢文教育」國際研討會 (The English name shall remain unchanged as 'International Conference on Han Characters Education and Research' at the moment )” in the hope of engaging more researchers and experts in the field of Chinese language education.
Conference Date: 16 - 19 January 2025 (Thursday to Sunday)
Conference Venue: The University of Hong Kong
